Why God Breaks the People He Wants to Use

Being a follower of Christ is not always an easy path. You might wonder why God allows people to hurt you or why friends and family turn their backs on you. It is painful when a boyfriend or girlfriend leaves without a reason. You may ask why a loving God lets these things happen to His children. The truth is that God often breaks the man or woman He plans to use for a great purpose.

This process is not meant to destroy you. It is meant to mold you, strengthen your faith, and prepare you for spiritual warfare. When God breaks a person, it is to make them stronger to help them grow stronger in Jesus Christ. God would never do something to you that would hurt you fully as God knows what is best for us. When God breaks you is no different than what Jesus Christ went through as he faced persections as well. Thus, no one is exempt from facing battles as children of God in a world where most people are following the enemy’s path.

The Purpose of Why God Breaks Someone

God uses difficult times to see if you are truly strong. To be a chosen leader, you must be able to stand firm when things get hard. If you never face a test, you will not have the strength needed for the future. When the enemy comes to attack you, it is best that you have your faith tested already to learn how to remain storng in God. This is why many people give up on God and turn back to the world as they weren’t serius along with never being tested.

God wants to see if your actions match your words. Many people say they love God when life is great. They have the nice car, the big house, and a good job. It is easy to be faithful when everything goes your way. The real test happens when those things disappear.

God allows trials to see where your heart truly sits. When God breaks you, it is easy to find out where your heart truly is because tough times dictates your motives. It is easy to say you love God when life is going your way but will you stay faithful to God in the heart of tribulation.

Along with this, you get to experience the favor of God that comes when God breaks someone because that means God can trust you when you remain faithful through the tribulations.

Learning from the Experience of Others

We can see examples of this throughout history and the Bible. Consider these points about why tests are necessary and why God breaks a person:

  • To expose fake faith: Some people claim to follow Jesus but leave the church the moment a tragedy hits.
  • To build spiritual muscle: You cannot fight spiritual battles if you have never been tested under pressure.
  • To follow the path of Jesus: Jesus was mocked, lied about, and betrayed by His own friend for money.
  • To prepare for blessings: Often, the biggest struggle comes right before a massive breakthrough.

Being tested by God is expected when being chosen by God as you have a deep purpose on your life which is why God breaks you to help mold you in your life purpose.

Lessons from the Story of Job

The Bible tells us about a man named Job. God allowed Satan to test Job in very painful ways. Job lost his wealth, his children, and his health. Even though he suffered, Job did not curse God or turn away. When God breaks a person, it may be a similar siutation like Job where you may lose alot of possessions. However, Job remained faithful to God unlike many people who turn from God because they can’t handle the tests.

God used this trial to show Job’s true heart. Because Job stayed faithful during his season of breaking, God blessed him even more than before. Your current struggle is likely just a season. It will not last your entire life. If you live to be 90 years old, you will not be in a trial for all 90 years.

These moments come in intervals to lift you to a new level. Your tests will come when you are being broken by the Most High God but do not fear as when God breaks you, you will come out stronger. Hard times do not last forever but tough people in Jesus Christ can last plenty years.

Psalm 51:17 (KJV)
“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.”

Building Strength Like a Bodybuilder

Think of your faith like a muscle. A bodybuilder does not get strong by lifting light weights. They have to push against heavy resistance.

Stage of GrowthPhysical ExampleSpiritual Example
The StartLifting 400 pounds feels impossible and hurts.A coworker mocks your faith and it hurts your feelings.
The ProcessYou keep showing up and lifting every day.You keep praying and staying kind despite the mean words.
The ResultAfter weeks, 400 pounds feels light.Years later, insults don’t phase you because you are strong.

When God allows people to talk about you or treat you poorly, He is training you. He wants you to reach a point where the enemy’s attacks do not move you. You become used to the pressure, and it makes you a better servant for His kingdom. When you can handle the tests similar to Job, no one can break your faith as you have been through the fire. When God breaks a person, they always come back out stronger. Yes, when God breaks you it, can be hard at first especially if you are new in the kingdom but you will get stronger in all aspects.

Job 42:10 (KJV)
“And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.”

The Danger of Giving Up Too Soon

Many people give up when the blessing is right around the corner. They feel the heat of the fire and run back to the world. Turning back to the world is a trap set by the enemy. Turning back to the world will not help you but only destroy you because the world is not offering you anything but destruction along with walking the enemy’s path.

The devil knows if you have a big purpose. He wants to stop you from fulfilling what God has planned. He wants you to give up so you never see the beautiful things God has in store for you. It does not make sense to trade eternal life for temporary comfort. This world is not forever so why give up when God breaks you to make you stronger as it is for your own benefit. Analyze the scenario: Turn from God to lose your blessings along with facing eternal fire or face temporary battles, get blessed and make it to heaven following Jesus fully. Which option makes more sense to you?

Job 23:10 (KJV)
“But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.”

Why You Should Stay Firm

  1. The world is temporary: Nothing on this earth lasts forever, so don’t live just for today.
  2. Judgment day is coming: We will all have to answer for why we stayed or why we left.
  3. Your breakthrough is near: Heavy battles usually mean a heavy blessing is coming next.
  4. God knows best: He knows exactly what you need to become the person He wants you to be.

Being a follower of Christ, you have to learn that when God breaks you, it has to do with following God’s will. Remember, when you are following God, it is not your plans but God’s plans. God’s plans reign supreme when God breaks you as God’s will has a special purpose that will benefit your life for better.

Your Pain Has a Purpose

If you feel broken today, do not lose hope. God is working on you. He is removing the things that hold you back and building a foundation that cannot be shaken. You are being prepared for a higher calling.

Stay strong in the Lord and remain firm in your walk. The tests you face today are the testimonies you will share tomorrow. God loves you too much to leave you weak. He breaks you so He can make you whole in a way that serves His kingdom.

If you are going through a hard time, keep your eyes on the King of Heaven. Your bright days are ahead. Do not let the enemy win by quitting now. Your faith is growing, your strength is increasing, and your blessing is on the way. Keep moving forward and trust the process. God will keep you in the toughest battles so do not worry as Jesus Christ is on our side. God bless.
